"It is the summer of 1936, and the water is rising around the town of Yuneetah, Tenn. The Tennessee Valley Authority has dammed the Long Man River to fill a reservoir for hydroelectric power. The TVA aims to reinvigorate and modernize the Depression-ravaged region, and most residents have reluctantly accepted buyouts. They’ve scattered, abandoning land their families have owned for generations."
